The Brass Society are coming to Cannon Park, this Saturday, 23rd November.
Brass Society is a student-run ensemble, founded in 1991, and based at the University of Warwick. Its members mainly consist of Warwick students, but they also welcome students from other local universities as well as members of the public.
The aim of Brass Society is to create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where anyone can enjoy making music and develop their skills. As there is no Music degree at Warwick, every member of the society views their playing as a hobby rather than a course obligation. Despite this, the standard of music-making is very high, and there is a place for everyone!
The Society compete regularly in contests, most recently winning the 4th section at the Wychavon Festival of Brass. And also play numerous concerts throughout the year, with its next one is being the Christmas concert, Friday 6th December at St Nicholas Church in Kenilworth.
They will also be raising money for the society to be able to buy new music, fix instruments, and subsidise trips to contests and concerts for its players. It is thanks to these donations that they can keep the society as accessible as possible.
On Saturday, you will be able to find them set up and ready to perform by the Cannon Park Christmas tree, between 10am to 2pm.
